How traditional retail is staying relevant with click and collect operations

Talk of brick and mortar retailers being pushed out of the market by their online retail competitors has been circling the retail world for a number of years.

But if you look at Retail Insiders list of retailers expanding into or within Canada in 2016, this concept seems refutable. There is, to take from the publication, “[a] remarkable growth in both new retailers entering the country as well as those expanding existing operations.” (source)

There are major flaws in the online retailing world, especially in the eyes of the consumer and much of it comes down to shipping issues and identify theft fears. However, online retailing is not going anywhere and continues to eat up a major portion of the market and so brick and mortar retailers look to new ways to compete.

Why sustainable buildings out perform non-green builds

Recent research published in the September issue of the Journal of Portfolio Management, has revealed that green or sustainable buildings across North America are experiencing higher rent, occupancy levels, lease renewal and overall tenant satisfaction scores.  

Results from the survey also reveal that those buildings holding sustainable certification continuously outperformed non-green buildings.

Green decision making has become big business in Canada, research suggests that by 2017 over 60% of all new construction projects will be green.
